Navigating the AI Frontier with Integrity and Insight

I’m Sophia Wu, an 8th-grade student passionate about shaping the ethical future of artificial intelligence

This summer, a discussion with my teacher on the boundaries of AI use sparked a debate. I argued that while outright content generators threaten academic integrity, education cannot abandon AI as a powerful aid. I regularly use AI to explain difficult math concepts or to explore new vocabulary. This experience inspired my mission for this year: to launch a student-wide initiative to vote on and define acceptable vs. unacceptable uses of AI, with the goal of compiling our consensus into a practical handbook.
